Here are a few pics of a near OOB, only addition was the True Detail seat.

I used Tamiya AS colors decanted and airbrushed for the 3 tone scheme.

What a delight this was to build!

Well done my friend!! I like the over all build especially the subtle weathering and the quality of detailing for 72nd is top notch.
If you do not mind me asking, what psi did you use for the Abing? Thanks for sharing!

Very nice work it is tougher to work on smaller models.

Thanks!

I used two tamiya airbrushes the super fine HG and the Spray works HG II both at 10psi. To achieve the 3 tone scheme I decanted Tamiya's AS colors called for in the instructions.

You know, I have never thought of using Tamiya's ABs. How are they and how to they stand up with the others?
Thanks again!!

Mike

Hi
I'm building the Bird Cage Corsair F4U-1, my first model since I was a kid. It's been very theraputic and I'm enjoying the painting of my first model. I admire your paint job and hope I eventually get to be as good (practice and patience will make me a better painter). I have some questions about your paint job I'm hoping you'll be able to help me a little. I am trying to figure out how to paint the canopy's metal ribs. I don't think I can paint them with a steady enough hand to be neat, did you tape them off? Also I'm finding it hard to find the Tamiya AS-19 Intermediate Blue spray. Can you suggest an alternative?
Do you have a blog off your build that I might be able to look at? Any help will be appreciated. I am also looking for a good lighted magnifying stand/work station, can you suggest something there. How log off a build was it?
Again your build looks fantastic?

Now you're just showing off... and doing a fine job of it! :) I'll second the use of the AS aircraft paints. Dries fast and can take just about anything you throw at it. You can do your panel wash and decals right on it if you're careful.

Did it come with masks for the canopy or am I just going to be impressed that you did your own? Man, those things are tiny.

I used the Eduard pre-cut mask for the Birdcage canopy.

I'm still impressed.
