Hi
I am working now on tamiya Bismarck & I have just assembled the deck of the ship as you know the deck comes in 3 pieces & when you glue them together to the surface of the hull you can still notice the deck in 3 pieces glued ..is there away to seal the thin lines between the deck pieces to make look as if it is naturally one piece??
any ideas ..thanks

Hi James,

Apply some tamiya tape as close to the line[s] as possible, then dilute some solvent based filler with some Tamiya Extra Thin or another liquid cement and the consistancy you want is that which you can paint the filler into the lines with a fine brush. Once dry, leaving the tape in place to protect any detail, gently sand the filler flush, using a really fine wet and dry paper, or sanding stick.

Another method is to again start with the tape, each side of the line and apply small amounts of Cyano glue, from a scalpel blade. Decant a small amount of glue onto something line a foil cake tray, or plastic lid. Then again leave the tape and gently sand the cyano glue flush.

There are also water soluable materials like milliput, that allow you to apply a tiny amount and then smoooth it off with water, leaving minimal sanding to do. Even with these though always lay ptape either side of the lines, to protect other detail.

It just takes practice and these tricks and tips are regularly shared, because the worst thing is slapping on filler and then damaging the surroundings, when sanding.

I hope these ideas help.

John
