To state it simply; there’s a real need for a 1/32 P-51 Mustang. I’ve been looking at builds for years of the various manufacturers offerings and there’s just nobody out there with a truly accurate OTB representation of this airplane in 1/32. There’s a ton of aftermarket parts to get one close and some builders have done un-imaginable work to get there. I can only speak for myself but I think others would agree they really appreciate Tamiya kits for the good OTB build experience and the “Option” to bolt on extra bits if desired.
A 1/32 P-51 Mustang engineered like the Spitfire kit with support for the various airframe configurations would be amazing. I’ll never understand how one of the most significant airplanes of WWII has never been done well enough in 1/32 for modelers to say “This is a great kit”. To my knowledge this has never been said of a 1/32 P-51 kit.
Any possibility Tamiya is planning to take this honor?

I totaly agree m8, if mr. Tamiya produced a 1/32 scale P-51, like his Spitfire, he could make millions on just that one kit, the closest anyones came is the Hasegawa offering, the Dragon kit is crap with the gazzilion divits/aka-rivits, and the major fit problems. He better get on the ball or Hasegawa will beat him to the punch with a new tool Mustang in 1/32.

According to a freind that works in Hobbyhaven hobbyshop, in urbandale Ia. rumors are flying hot and heavy from his various suppliers, Tamiya is doing just that, they maybe just rumors, but he's never been wrong yet, at least not in the ten years i've known him. If true, The other two makers whom i won't mention(You know who they are), will have almost have to GIVE! away their product of said kit. PLEASE! Mr. Tamiya, make it so.

I received my kit the other day. While I always look forward to opening a quality model kit, I have to say my experience with this kit was beyond my expectations. I’m truly impressed. The presentation and attention to detail makes just opening the box and looking through the contents a great deal of fun. I’m sure building it will be much more of the same.
The detail is excellent.
I know it's not always easy to find the extra $$ but if you can... Buy it. Build it. Enjoy it.
