Well, I can finally say it......Tamiya's 1/32nd F-16 is FINALLY done..!!! Almost two years in the making and many hours burning the midnight oil.

But in the end, I am really stoked on how she turned out!! While doing this build, I took a lot of mental and written notes of the does n dont's of this kit as well as for the issue spots which were few and far between which I think stemed from the builder. With saying that, everything that I have learned along the way on this build will pay off in the end when I go to build mine!! (Crossing fingers n toes) I used the kit decals as well and all I have to say is that they went on beautifully..!! Looked painted on once set

I will give a short explaination of what I did to this build... I essentially built her OOB with the exception of wiring the landing gear main and nose, vacu-forming the FOD cover while using my 16's intake as the master, vacu-formed the AIM-9's protective caps using Evergreens .020" sheet stock.

The protective caps master was the butt end of a medium sized paint brush and the front section of the cap is .020" sheet stock rounded and brought down to size(not as accurate though).

The RBF tags are various scales from Eduards PE line(1/72nd, 1/48th). First time really taking the time and adding such small yet stand out details that really make the F-16 stand out.

I used Model Master paints for the over all paint scheme and tempra paints and oils for the weathering.. Over all I am really pleased on how she turned out!!

I really tried to get her done for this past Aprils BuffCon but it did not pan out until this past weekend. I took the 16 along with 6 other builds to Rochester for ROCON31 which was held this past Sunday 9/19.

Well to my surprise, all of my builds(5 of them being Tamiya a/c) were awarded in there respective categories and each catergory had about 10-15 planes each...

What really took me by surprise was the fact that the F-16 took 1st in the 1/32nd scale catergory and the Capt Jeff Rich Memorial "Best USAF Jet".

The "Best USAF Jet" was for any jet from the 50's to present in any scale.. The last count was 22 very well done builds that was up for this award as well.. I am still speechless and very honored to have been awarded this..!!

So with out further due.. The final look before I pass it on to its' proud owner... And if you were wondering, as I pass the model on, the awards will be going with it!!

Nicely Done Mike,
I really have to get my head in gear and get to work on my F16, which is still in a state of being converted using the Isracast conversion set, to make an IAF varient complete with Python and Spice Bombs and not forgetting the Eduard colour cockpit set. The guy that I am building it for though wants the powerplant kept seperate in its own case, along with a Verlinden pilot for scale. One day I shall post some shots. I am upto 18months now as I run a series of kits, to stop me getting bored........trouble is others keep tempting me........ :)
